  • Air Ventures Hawaii was the best air tour.
  • Need more Interisland airlines.

“Air Ventures Hawaii is located at the Lihue airport commuter terminal. We had the best tour with the bubbly check in agent Donna to the narrated island tour. Definitely recommend.”

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • The movie before the tour helped you understand what you were seeing.
  • Maybe need more bathrooms.

“Everything was done in a professional matter. The bookstore, the tour times, is seating while waiting for your tour. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The respect for the Arizona and other ships is wonderfully displayed. You can't help but walk away with a heart full of emotions.”

Paragon Sailing Charters
Mar 3, 2008 by Stacy from Rockford, IL

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Friendly crew.
  • Wish I was sailing right now.

“The crew was great; they made it a lot of fun. My husband and I took the snorkeling trip to Lanai. Breakfast, lunch, snack, & desert, not to mention open bar all day! This is so much more than just a snorkel trip. We sailed almost the entire time, Wow! Captain stopped every time there was a whale and turned the boat for the best view. This was a highlight of our vacation. We plan to bring our family back next year and will go back to Paragon Charters.”

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • I liked the free breakfast on board.
  • I didn't like that my trip had to end in Hawaii.

“My ride aboard the Maui Princess was as wonderful as it gets. We had an opportunity to see lots of whales everywhere! The lady captain did an amazing job handling the ship and the crew was very helpful in answering our questions about Molokai.”

Overall Rating: 7 User Rating Score: 7

  • Plus is great art nice gallery.
  • Minus is the lousy (art consultant).

“The gallery is really very nice. The lady would not leave us alone! With the constant sales pitch and calculator punching. I could picture her selling used cars somewhere not fine art. So my wife and I left and came back and bought something when she was gone. Next time I'm there I'll call in and find when she's not working.”

Queen Emma Summer Palace
Jan 16, 2008 by Anna from Vancouver

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Everything.
  • Nothing.

“The summer palace is a good place to learn about Hawaiian history and culture. You may wander through the house by yourself or with a guide. I would recommend a guide to really enjoy and understand all of the wonderful things that are there. The guides are experts on the history of Hawaiian royals and the many treasures in the summer palace. Don't forget to visit the gift shop. It contains many Hawaiian made products that you might not see elsewhere.”

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9

  • Great shows and really good food.
  • Distance from Honolulu.

“This turned out to be one of the most enjoyable days that we spent in Hawaii. There is absolutely too much to be able to see everything in one day. I would recommend that you use a guide in order to see as much as possible in the time that you have. They are able to direct you to the many shows on time. The final show of the night is great and not to be missed.”

Paragon Sailing Charters
Sep 13, 2007 by Manny from Montreal

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8

  • Great crew, personalize experience and romantic.
  • Did not see the sunset, it was cloudy.

“My wife decided to take the Paragon Sunset Lahaina cruise, and let me tell you it was worth it. Yes, it was only a 2 hour cruise and no music or full dinner meal, but the crew people were very nice and offered excellent service. The hors d'ouvres was good and it was open bar. Other charter companies might offer full dinner and dancing but for a lot more and much longer which is not what we were looking for. I recommend this trip to anyone visiting Maui.”

Dole Plantation
Aug 18, 2007 by Kathy from philadelphia

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8

  • Pleasant, educational, a nice stop on a journey to the North Shore.
  • Quite pricey.

“The Dole Plantation is a pleasant stop along the highway to the North Shore area. Learn the early history of pineapple plantations and how pineapples grow, inhale their sweet aroma wafting on the air. Enjoy a pineapple freeze or other pineapple sweet; take a train ride through a pineapple field, and challenge yourself in the maze. Ship a pineapple or two to share a bit of Hawaii with friends and family back home.”

  • The lady on non alcoholic drink on July 26 2007.

“I think that the Germaine's luau was great. The bus ride to the place was really fun, the guide was friendly, funny, and made sure we were comfortable. The show was wonderful! I would love to see it again someday. The food was okay, not as good as I had expected. My only negative comment is the lady at the non alcoholic drink is very unfriendly.”

Princeville Ranch
Jul 20, 2007 by Kristin from Harvest

Overall Rating: 7 User Rating Score: 7

  • Lovely scenery and magnificent horses.
  • Too many inexperienced riders; waterfall hike is rigorous , so be prepared!

“The horses are really quite beautiful and the staff (especially our guide) was great. However, there were too many inexperienced riders with only one guide and there are no trails (you ride across wide fields and through gates in the fences). That's a recipe for a horseback free-for-all with novices so be careful! They allowed a lady to ride even though she totally vaulted over the horse when she was trying to get on. Besides that, the hike to the waterfall is not minor event (steep trails and climbing involved) and the aforementioned lady wanted to be picked up and brought back to the stables instead of hiking back. I didn't blame her - she looked close to heat exhaustion. If you are a moderately experienced rider, suggest you skip the waterfall excursion or arrange for a private ride.”

Germaine's Luau
Jul 18, 2007 by Bettye from Colorado

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • I liked the location and I especially liked the entire staff at Germaine's Luau who truly made you feel like family.
  • I honestly can't think of anything negative. I had a great time.

“My family and traveling companions found our evening at Germaine's Luau to be one of most entertaining, delightful, and fulfilled evenings imaginable. We arrived just as the sun was setting over the ocean. We had our pictures taken under the tall palm trees standing majestic on a sandy beach that makes you forget the industry that surrounds this peaceful, yet party filled atmosphere. The food was plentiful offering a large variety of tastes both Polynesian and American. The entertainment was excellent. An exhibition of the varied Polynesian dances - hula, Mauri, Tahitian, and fire dancer - was most exciting. Guests were invited onstage adding just another charming aspect to the evening. I recommend that if you are in Hawaii and want to experience a great evening of entertainment visit Germaine's Luau. You can't go wrong.”

  • Great exhibit work, friendly people, and awesome gift shop.
  • Hard to find, ticket purchase was a bummer, restaurant is beautiful but overly expensive.

“Not enough airplanes, expensive restaurant and limited number of exhibits. Zero and wildcat are great aircraft and are well done exhibits. Needs more stories of everyday heroes and less focus on well heeled donors.”

Waikiki Beach
Jul 13, 2007 by Lori from Astoria, Oregon

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • The whole ball of wax!
  • None.

“If you like beautiful white sand and brilliant blue water, be sure to visit waikiki beach on your next trip to Hawaii. Our favorite place to stay is the outrigger main - right on the beach. If you book early enough, you can get great rates! The hotel staff bends over backwards for you and the restaurants are wonderful! Make sure you visit dukes canoe club for at least a refreshing cocktail. You can dine almost on the beach itself in their family friendly restaurants or enjoy room service from the balcony of your room. Also, make sure you take a sunset catamaran cruise " complete. It will be an experience you will not soon forget.”

“Was married there 22 years ago. Do they still have weddings there? Beautiful park and was treated fantast. Son looking for a place to be married. Beautiful birds and fish ponds. At the time we were married they treated us very well and arranged everything for us. It must have been the good luck fish pond that we were married by that made our marriage work. If you could find out information for me on the park now.”

Molokai General Hospital
Nov 18, 2006 by Judeth

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1

  • Molokai is a lovely island.
  • The Molokai general hospital errs is not to be trusted.

“The service at err was poor. My father went there for an emergency illness and almost died due to lack of emergent treatment. This includes hours of delay getting him off island to the proper facility, a nurse who seemed more interested in figuring out what to have for lunch than her patient's illness, and some diagnostic tests took them hours to perform. The doctor failed to recognize the urgency of my father's symptoms.”

Drums of Paradise Luau
Sep 25, 2006 by Sharon from Georgia

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • The hotel staff.
  • Luau performance. Down graded to be a Las Vegas show.

“I attended the Luau back in 2000 and it was wonderful, a very traditional style show. We attended again 2006 and it has changed. If I wanted to attend a Luau like this, I would go visit the island of Honolulu. Kauai is more about traditional and Aloha spirit. The Drums of Paradise Luau was the best luau. Now I beg to differ.”

Maui Myth & Magic Theater
Aug 13, 2006 by Les from Saratoga, Ca

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9

  • Great overall production, wonderful music.
  • Right side located orchestra is overpowering.

“Surprising to find such a great production in a resort town. Produced by the same folks who do Cirque de Solely, the show is a Broadway-style show with an island flair. It relates the history of the islands and its people while weaving in the legends of the islands through song and movement. You must see it at least once. ONE SUGGESTION: the orchestra is located above and to the right side of the theater and is very loud, try to get seats to the left side.”

Germaine's Luau
Jul 20, 2006 by Erica from Huntington Beach

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1

  • Far from the city lights, you can see a billion stars.
  • Exceptionally rude staff.

“This was supposed to be a fun team building experience for our group of young ice skaters. Friends, books, even my hotel recommended Paradise Cove but we trusted they're probably all the same. The shuttle only made one stop so everyone had to get to one hotel. We passed the industrial buildings, but couldn't see them once inside. Once seated we also couldn't see the water. It wasn't like the pictures- cheap shell leis, small drinks (we were never told of the buy a glass trick!), fat fire dancer, plastic skirts, lots of audience pulled up to "perform". If you were able to keep the flies away long enough to eat, the pork was good. The beef tasteless, chicken greasy, coconut jello just gross and cake dry. (I don't eat fish, maybe that was good)? They say all you can eat, but I asked for both a piece of whatever beef that was and some pork and received them only with a disapproving look from the server. The line was too long to consider seconds. But this is nothing compared to the rude customer service I received. We booked months ago for 70+ people. My shuttle was first to arrive and we found three tables reserved to us- farthest out, in full sun, on the side of the stage. Not enough room for us and some could not see around the rubber trees placed around the stage. We noticed several unreserved tables so we began to move our signs. This 300 lb woman came out, got right in my face yelling at me that those seats aren't for us, but for people coming in paying $65. We had to go back to our seats because we came with a group and got a discount ($4). We were never told that by booking as a group we would have inferior seating. Apparently second class citizens, "that's what we get for being in a group and we should be happy with it because a track team also got bad seats on the other side of the stage". I am not kidding- all this is coming out at the top of her lungs with veins bulging. While trying to explain to Godzilla that we are concerned about space and the young kids sitting in this bright sun, the sign blows from my hand. She keeps interrupting and gets closer to me with a downright threatening stare bellowing at me to pick up that sign. Not wanting to ruin the experience for our kids, or risk bodily injury, I picked it up and went back to our original table. A nice young girl came claiming to be the manager told us moving would be no problem! Just don't take the signs so other groups wouldn't think we'd received preferential treatment. The kids were welcome to sit on the ground in front of the stage to help with the space. (Of course this left other arriving people standing because they thought these tables were reserved. Duh!) Still that's all Jabba ever needed to say. After dinner a man came and identified himself as the manager (who was the girl earlier)? He gave me a free drink and tried to brush of his employee's behavior by saying she just thought I was some one else. I tried to tell him no, we were the only group there and I was the one with the sign but he did not care to hear it and insisted she did not mean to be yelling at me but someone else. I don't find coming out yelling at any customer to be appropriate behavior. Had this man even apologized I probably would have accepted it and not be writing this. He never apologized! I felt insulted, demeaned, and threatened for my safety. It ruined my vacation and I will never return to this group of "cousins" at Germaine's!”

Hanauma Bay Marine Preserve
Feb 9, 2006 by Laura

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Great value with the Go Oahu Card, included admission, transportation and rental.
  • Nothing, it was beautiful. Concessions are expensive, so bring your own food!

“If you're going to Oahu, you must visit Hanauma Bay for snorkeling. The waters are clear, beautiful, and you can easily see the reef from the shoreline. We took a tour with the Go Oahu Card which brought us to the area from Waikiki. We were provided sun block, snorkel gear, and a video about the bay. It was outstanding. The area is a perfect place to picnic, shop and really enjoy the sun and the beauty around you. The crater was created from a volcanic crater collapsed. Now it's home to the most exotic marine life, most of it local to Hawaii. ”

Limahuli Garden

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8

  • Variety from cultivated taro to tropical forest
  • walking path gets steep in a few areas

“Took the self-guided tour ($10) late in the afternoon (last entry is at 4pm). You start in the cultivated Taro ponds, and work your way up the hill through sugar cane to various ferns, tropical trees, and wind up at a scenic overlook with views of the mountains and the shoreline. As you descend on the other side of the hill, you overlook the taro ponds and walk through various landscaped areas. Well worth an hour and a half - if you can, time your visit to watch the sun set at nearby Ke'e beach after you tour the garden.”

“There are two gardens at this NTBG site: Allerton Gardens and McBryde Gardens. On this visit, we toured McBryde, where you take a one-mile walk through a variety of gardens, including a Palm Garden, a Spice Garden, Canoe Garden (featuring plants brought to Hawaii by the original Polynesian settlers). Each of the gardens has a guide providing details about the numbered plants you'll find along the paths. The bamboo bridge is one of many great places for photos.”

Kilauea Lighthouse
Apr 8, 2005 by TOM G . from Ridgefield, CT

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9

  • Great place to birdwatch, whale watch, enjoy the surf, and a lighthouse.
  • Can get very windy

“One of the best place on Kaua'i to see whales, native birds (we saw a nesting pair of Albatross, Wedge-tailed shearwaters, Red-footed Boobies, Nene (Hawaiian Goose), and more that I didn't keep track of. During the winter, you can often see whales spouting within a few hundred yards of the shoreline. When we visited, one of the staff members spent quite a bit of time telling us about the habits of the various birds and whales that we were watching. It can get quite windy, advise a windbreaker or at least long sleeves. Although the base of the historical lighthouse is open, you can't climb the stairs inside.”
