New York Avenue Presbyterian Church
Sep 2, 2007 by Bill from Adelphi, MD

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Tour conducted by very well informed lay leader!
  • None

“A friend and I visited NYAPC on labor day Sunday at the 10:00 am service. Next week, the church switches back to 11:00 am. We had a delightful visit at the church. It just oozes with history. We enjoyed the worship service, the pastor was very friendly and approachable, and the several lay leaders we met were equally as receptive to visitors. Visitors are welcomed to sit in Lincolns original pew which we did. We took the church tour afterwards and found it most fascinating. The church does much outreach to the poor and disenfranchised in the area. Highly recommend anyone to visit.”

Celadon Spa
Jun 5, 2007 by C from Suitland, MD

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9

  • Love the atmosphere and the great service.
  • Can't think of anything!

“I just moved from Philadelphia, where I had the greatest bikini waxier in the world. I have been to a couple places in the area, but celadon is the best. They have appointments open and business hours to fit the needs of a busy working woman, they are centrally located, and they can work a wax! They don't wax one spot over and over until you are red, the estheticians don't make too much small talk, yet they are pleasant and friendly. Clean environment, and fast service! And they have great little spa/beauty gifts for sale too! Highly recommended.”

Ford's Theatre
Aug 9, 2006 by Michael from Tustin, CA

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Fascinating historical site.
  • If on a tight time schedule, the plays can interfere with your visit.

“The level of care and attention to detail taken to restore this theater to its original configuration and condition is exceptional. The opportunity to see the spot where Lincoln was shot is awesome and I'm so grateful this building is not lost to history forever. The museum in the basement, which contains some incredible items (the pistol used to shoot Lincoln, the clothing and boots worn by the president that night, Booth's dagger, etc.) is absolutely fascinating. If you visit D.C., this is an historical "must-see".”

National Aquarium
Aug 9, 2006 by Minda from Denver

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1

  • Nothing.
  • Everything was AWFUL!! Not even air conditioned in the BASEMENT!

“It was terrible and so deceiving! The fish were tiny and not in good surroundings, their "interactive" display is only a little mana ray and he was "resting" at the time, and they have a few sand sharks! TERRIBLE!! When I hear the words "National Aquarium", I expect a "NATIONAL AQUARIUM"- not food tanks for the fisherman's Warf!”

National Aquarium
Jul 19, 2006 by Tammy from Chantilly

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9

  • The diversity of the collection.
  • Renovations are ongoing.

“The aquarium is small but easy to navigate and the collection is diverse. The smaller children especially seem to find it entertaining. The staff was helpful and the alligator feeding was fascinating ”

Thomas Jefferson Memorial
Jul 3, 2006 by Christine from Albany

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8

  • It's a very nice monument with a beautiful view. It's worth seeing at least once in your life.
  • It is terribly inconvenient to get to. There isn't any public transportation within a mile of the place, and it's just not worth the walk.

“I have mixed feelings about the Jefferson memorial. I've been there once, but I don't think I will ever return. It has a lovely view, and it always looks great on postcards. But be warned that the postcards don't show you the murky water, the paddle boats covering it, the street people living on the park benchs, or just how long the hike is to get to the memorial. If you are coming from the National Mall, you will be pretty darn tired by the time you see Jefferson in his palace, perhaps too tired to appreciate it. There aren't any close metro stops so you will have to hike the whole trip no matter how you do it, unless you are in a tour bus. If you do plan to go all the way down to see Jefferson, make sure you take the western route back to Lincoln. Nestled between the Basin and the Potomac you will find the Roosevelt (FDR) memorial. It's a very unique type of memorial and I doubt many people see it - most seem to just stumble across it. I did. But it's worth it. ”

Albert Einstein Memorial
Jun 17, 2005 by Michael from Washington, DC

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9

“This is a great spot for large group photos, you'll frequently see class trips lined up here. My photography class went to take shots, it's an interesting place, and relatively "hidden" (a lot of folks from DC have never even seen it.)”

  • I had the best haircut and facial ever!!
  • That Celadon is located in Washington DC and not NY

National Aquarium

“Many of the tanks have been taken over by snails and algae. Most of the tanks are too small for the fish. I was very disappointed.”

New York Avenue Presbyterian Church
Mar 31, 2005 by K L . from Brimley, Michigan

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1

  • No tours times posted anywhere

“We stood in the pouring rain about 4:30 p.m. Easter Monday this week, and could not get into the church. There was no schedule posted and no one was around. It was my main objective to see the interior where Abraham Lincoln and Peter Marshall had been. I was terribly disappointed!!!!!!”
