Birmingham International Airport
Apr 5, 2007 by Andrew Muir from Bangor, Northern Ireland

Overall Rating: 4 User Rating Score: 4

  • Location clean and tidy.
  • Takes ages to get through security.

“Visited the airport on Thursday 15 march 2007 and had to wait for one hour to get through security. This was due to lack of staffing and positions arising from refurbishment, not due to security alerts etc. An absolute disgrace! Otherwise airport is great, centrally located, easy access to National rail network, selection of food etc. Is nice and airport is modern.”

Qhg
Apr 3, 2007 by Angela from Enteprise

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9

  • Wonderful nurses and physicians.
  • Some specialties not available.

“Medical center enterprise has excellent nurses, physicians and other staff. Due to the large military presence, there is a wide variety of nurses available - from the spouses of the military who are stationed here to nurses from several nursing programs nearby. The 4th floor has been recently remodeled and is beautiful.”

Montgomery Zoo, The
Mar 13, 2007 by Tabatha from Bellwood, Al

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8

  • Great kid-friendly environment.
  • Not enough exotic animals.

“A great day trip for the family. My kids loved the zoo and the train ride. There was a great area for a light lunch and then back into the zoo again. There is a small playground for the parents to take a quick break and for the small ones to get out of the stroller and run off some built up energy. I would have like to see more exotic animals (koala, lemurs, etc.) I think a petting zoo would be a great addition to the zoo”

Paradise Lanes, Inc.
Mar 5, 2007 by Patricia from Boaz

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Everyone was wonderful at paradise lanes.
  • I could not find anything negative.

“I would like to take the time to say thank you to everyone at paradise lanes. I work with mentally and physically handicap clients and we have planned outings to go bowling for several years now and we have always got a great deal at paradise lanes. The other bowling alley's like the thunder alley in boaz would not give us a break on the cost and therefore my family will always go to paradise lanes now to go bowling even if we do have to drive a lot longer to do so. ”

Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame
Feb 27, 2007 by bill from birmingham

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9

  • High quality presentation.
  • Too small (but had no choice).

“Small but excellent museum. The theater is in use all year round, doing a good educational job. The last surviving original inductee, frank Adams, is on hand most days, to speak and perform for groups.”

Birmingham School Of Law
Oct 5, 2006 by Matt from Houston

Overall Rating: 7 User Rating Score: 7

  • It fit very well into the Birmingham Legal District across from the Bar Association.
  • Night School so there was not a lot to see.

“Birmingham School of Law was established in 1915 and is located in downtown Birmingham a couple blocks form the Courthouse and the Park. It is housed in the historic Frank Nelson building. This is one of the first high-rise buildings built in Birmingham, AL. The school is primarily a night law school but has a very heavy presence in Alabama. Many of the judges are proud to display this school as their alma mater. I was in Birmingham visiting a friend and had some time to burn so I wondered downtown. The city to my surprise is actually quite breathtaking. It is located at the foot of the Application Mountains. Some of the area is industrial but from the city to the East it is sprawling with historic buildings, homes and beautifully manicured estates. I was there in the fall and the leaves were turning. So my opinion of Alabama as a whole has changed a great deal from what I thought of it before I visited. I found Huntsville, Birmingham and Mobile to be unique and bustling economically. Huntsville was full of engineers and science types it seemed. Montgomery was typical of what one may think of when one thinks of Alabama. Mobile especially downtown and the East Bay area were very resort like and seemed to have a great deal of revenue generated from the port activity. I highly recommend visiting Gulf Shores as it is a beautiful beach and priced right.”

Point Mallard Park
Sep 3, 2006 by Matt

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • The fast water slides.
  • The crowd, but that means it is a good park.

“The park is really fun, lots of water rides. I had to give it a great rating for the fact that their labor day admission was $1.50 for adults.”

Faulkner State Community College
Aug 29, 2006 by BRENDA from MOBILE

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • I loved the way the professors cared and helped you if you needed it.
  • Sorry, I can't think of a negative thing.

“I am a graduate of Faulkner and I was so impressed with the help you can get and how personal all the professors are. I almost hated to graduate because it was such a wonderful experience. ”

Montgomery Museum Of Fine Arts
Aug 14, 2006 by Lois from Barrington RI

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • I love the setting, the museum, the traveling exhibits & the whole experience.
  • There are no negatives.

“A beautiful museum in a magnificent setting. Permanent collection is very good, but it is the traveling exhibits which make it a must-see destination. I am impressed, every time I visit, with the consistently high quality of the shows and the excellent installation. A well-done, hand-on children's area, plus a lovely gift shop and cafe, round out this gem.”

Birmingham International Airport
Dec 3, 2005 by Gary from Montgomery

Overall Rating: 7 User Rating Score: 7

  • Clean, fast, good parking.
  • Parking deck signage.

“Birmingham is a somewhat little airport. Since you'll probably be either originating or terminating a flight here, you won't be needing a bookstore, a Sharper image, which is good, because they don't have them. But the snack bar is decent and serves yogurt, coffee drinks, and some basic fast food items. I've never experienced a long wait in ticketing or security. Parking is plentiful, only hitch is the signage in long-term parking is a little lacking as to where you should park for what terminal. However, it doesn't really matter much as all the terminals are fairly close together and if you parked in the worst parking lot on the deck you'd still have a shorter walk than many airports. Just kind of keep your eyes open as you drive into the deck and you'll figure out the best places to park.”

Montgomery Zoo, The
Oct 14, 2005 by Bob from Birmingham

Overall Rating: 5 User Rating Score: 5

  • Good viewing areas
  • Boring animals

“Nice zoo overall, very typical though. Not many really exotic animals. The alligator exhibit is horrible. It is nothing but a little bit of grass and a concrete pool. The reptile building is small and boring. Most of the reptiles can be found in pet stores. No venomous snakes, contrary to what their website says.”

“I can't believe it's taken us THIS long to go to the Children's Hands-On Museum here in Tuscaloosa! (We've lived here nearly 5 years, now) We had a BALL!! There's soooo much for kids to look at, touch, learn about and explore!! Our son is 5-yrs old and he had SO much fun....we'll definitely return. So many cool exhibits; I'd highly recommend this place to others.”
