“This museum was created on the 50s and looks like it hasn't been updated since. The wax figures were not nearly as good as Madame Tussuad's and some were downright creepy.”

“The Colosseum is quite possibly the most amazing thing I have ever seen. The first part of ancient Rome we saw on our arrival in Rome and made a point of walking past it every day at different times for a truly magnificent view of the structure. Light up at night and well worth the walk out of town (20minutes maximum) just for the holiday snaps. Also recommend a trip inside but go either first thing or later in the day as it gets extremely hot during the summer months. And of course no air con! NB - There are dozens of tour guides outside offering a tour of the colloseum but most will only tell you what it says in the guide book anyway. If you really want to take a tour, my advice would be to use context travel who offer tours by historians and archaeologists.”

“Astonishing from the outside, from all angles, specially at sunset. Not worth a visit inside, unfortunately. It does not offer much apart from a good view of Saint Paul Basilica in Vatican.”

“We had a confirmed reservation, but when we arrived, they told us they would have to send us across town to another hotel because they had no rooms. The staff person assured us that the other hotel was "much nicer," and pointed to a spot on the map near the city center. They said they had "made special arrangements with this other hotel to take us in.¿ Much to our dismay, the other hotel wasn't much nicer, and even worse, it was located in a totally different part of town than they claimed. We were very disappointed because we could have easily stayed in this much less popular part of town for much less money. The next night, we insisted on being sent back to the Hotel Ari Pacis. They stuck us in a tiny room with broken air conditioning I travel all the time, and I¿ve stayed in low budget hotels in the past, but this was by far the worst hotel I¿ve ever had in any part of the world. If I were to take a guess, this hotel actually owns the other hotel. The Ari Pacis overbooks intentionally because it's at a lower price point. The other hotel (The Hotel Borromeo) may be under the same umbrella ownership. It's at a higher price point though, so the owners of the Ari Pacis may simply overbook the cheaper hotel, and then send the excess guests across town to the other hotel. If you have to pay more for a comparable hotel in the area, stay in the other hotel. It'll save you a lot of headache and hassle.”

“I love it. We stayed 3 times in Rome together with other people and we are not tired to return and see the monumental again.”

“When the Vatican did not fax our reservation request to us before we left or to any of our hotels, we had to stand in line or buy a group tour. We were lucky to arrive around 2 p.m. when the line was fairly short, and we were in the museum within 25 minutes. If we had a Vatican reservation, we could have gone right in through the exit and proceeded with a tour - just fax your request 2-3 weeks ahead of time. It would be most helpful to have binoculars to see the Sistine Chapel ceiling in detail, and to have a good travel guide book that outlines the panels for you. ”
