Campi Flegrei - Baia, Bacoli, Miseno
Oct 31, 2007 by sarah stonewell from New York City

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1

  • The guides were nice, and that's just about it.
  • Everything.

“Ugh! The sun was burning hot, the town was corny, and it was just so bad! Whatever you do, don't go here.”

“This is a question. Is the address of the palace 66 Monte de duo?”

Capri
Oct 27, 2006 by Alison from Mountain Ash

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9

“Capri in summer is hot, crowded and absolutely wonderful. I went with my family in the middle of August, not the best time of year to visit due to the intense heat and thousands of tourists. This beautiful place is a 'must see', from the fabulous (but very expensive) shops to the stunning views you won't ever regret or forget it.”

Procida
May 2, 2006 by Angela from USA

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8

  • The friendliness of the natives.
  • Transportation ¿ poor

“I visited Procida over 30 years ago and I thought it was absolutely beautiful. For a young woman, I thought I had died and went to heaven! The views were breathtaking. I visited my Mother's family and although it's a small island, it was quite populated. The folks were so very friendly and accommodating. I was impressed with the marina and the winding roads that led to the hilltops where the wealthy resided. I definitely would recommend Procida for an overnight stay or week long stay. The islands of Capri and Ischia were also so very magnificent to me. I yearn to return with my husband someday. ”

La Cappella Sansevero
Jan 8, 2006 by Gail from Avalon

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Napoli will bring out the explorer in you but you must have several maps, good walking shoes, and some basic Italian to navigate it.
  • Driving in Napoli is like aspiring to be a Kamikazi! We walked the streets and drove only went leaving the city for day trips.

“We tramped through pouring rain, with wet maps in search of the Chapel of San Severo. Anyone who has been to Napoli knows that navigating its tiny streets without at least 2 maps and the ability to ask for directions in simple Italian is a challenge. In this case our efforts were rewarded beyond any expectation that we had. The Veiled Christ and the Disenchantment are stunning even if you have seen the works of Michangelo in Frenzy or Roma. Awed does not begin to describe the sensations. No pictures can capture the magic. These two sculptors had with their marble. Don't miss it!”

Campi Flegrei - Baia, Bacoli, Miseno
Nov 2, 2005 by Richard from Warboys, Cambs.

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8

  • Beautiful clean sea, in spite of all the boats. We went to the beach at 4.00P.M and swam until 9.00P.M.
  • Don't expect a sterile 'tourist' environment. The area appears a little shabby at first, but once you get over the culture shock and settle in, it really is a lovely place to visit.

“I visited Miseno in 2003 with my Wife, who was born in Naples of English parents, her parents and my teenage son. We rented an apartment belonging to Italians and made our own way. This is Italy for the Italians, where the Neapolitans have their weekend/holiday apartments. If you like to get away from the tourist trail, this is for you. The people are wonderfully friendly and helpful, in spite of our Italian being limited to a few words. We hired a car and visited several of the 'sites', including Monti Casino, which is a MUST.”

Pompei
Sep 1, 2005 by Amanda from Pretoria, South Africa

Overall Rating: 6 User Rating Score: 6

  • The fact that places were kept in its original form
  • All the frescoes being removed and not replaced by replicas

“On an average warm day, wear a hat - it gets hot quite quickly and there are no buildings to hide inside or trees to sit under! Have a minimum of 4 hours available, use the audio-guide - it gives good background information and guides you to the various places. Beware that sometimes the numbers in the booklet they hand out and the audio-guide does not correspond! If you have te time spend 3-4 hours before lunch there, enjoy a nice lunch in the restaurant (charge your batteries) and spend another 2 - 3 hours to see it all (and wear very comfortable shoes) - it is a lot of walking on very uneven ground.”

Capri
Jul 31, 2005 by Debbie Childers from Dallas

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9

“I have been to Capri twice. Going again in September. AnaCapri is above Capri and is where I have stayed both times. It's nice, but Positano (reach by hydrofoil in about 40 minutes) is much quieter and peaceful. ”
