Montreal Dorval International Airport

Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, thankfully shortened to Montreal-Trudeau, is the primary airport serving Montreal, Québec''s largest city and the second largest market in Canada. Befitting a large metropolitan area and a popular tourist destination, the airport is served by numerous Canadian, U.S. and international airlines offering nonstop flights to almost 100 destinations around the world. In 2000, the airport launched a massive airport expansion project to double capacity and improve usability throughout the airport. By late 2005, most of the projects will be complete including a much-needed new international arrivals hall. The airport currently consists of a main terminal facility with two concourses (called jetties) extending from it and a satellite building that is divided into two sections for domestic and international flights (these sections are called Aeroquays). The airport was renamed in honor of former Canadian Prime Minister, Pierre Elliott Trudeau, on January 1, 2004, but you still might see some signs with the previous name, Montreal Dorval International Airport. The airport is located approximately 19 kilometers (12 miles) from the Montreal city center making it more convenient than Montreal -Mirabel Airport, which is a longer distance from the city.
