Tampa International Airport

Tampa International Airport, located five miles west of downtown Tampa, Fla., has been recognized as one of the best airports in the nation and the world in global consumer surveys. In 2003, readers of Conde Nast Traveler Magazine ranked the airport as the best in the U.S. and third best in the world, and J.D. Power and Associates ranked it among the world's best for overall passenger satisfaction. The accolades can be attributed in large part to the airport's hassle-free satellite terminal configuration that minimizes walking between ticketing, gates and baggage claim. The landside terminal contains three levels, baggage, ticketing and transfer, and airlines are organized into Red and Blue Airlines, which indicates airline location in the terminal. From the terminal's transfer level, departing passengers take a monorail to one of four airside terminals. A fifth airside terminal will open in April 2005. The airport is served by 23 passenger airlines daily nonstop flights to 50 domestic destinations and weekly nonstop flights to seven international destinations. Although many airports strive for the distinction, Tampa International Airport succeeds in delivering a world-class airport experience.
