Lambert St Louis International Airport10701 Lambert International Blvd, Saint Louis, MOWeb: Visit this site » Lambert-St. Louis International located outside of St. Louis, Mo., was once the primary hub for Trans World Airlines (TWA). Under TWA, the airport earned the reputation of being out-dated, chaotic and prone to delays that it has yet to shed. American Airlines acquired TWA in 2000 and the airport became a reliever hub for American's O'Hare International Airport hub in Chicago. Passenger levels have since decreased leading to fewer nonstop flights to and from St. Louis. Southwest Airlines, however, is starting to fill the gap by using the airport as a hub. In total, the airport is served by seven major airlines and 11 commuter airlines. The airlines operate out of two terminals - the Main Terminal and the East Terminal. The Main Terminal has five concourses, and traversing them to make a connecting flight can be time-consuming. The East Terminal is much smaller and houses Southwest Airlines and charter airlines. From both terminals, you can catch the St. Louis MetroLink, a light rail train, and be at the Gateway Arch or many other St. Louis locations in 30 minutes or less.
