Mineta San Jose International Airport serves San Jose, Calif., the third largest city in the state located at the southern end of the San Francisco Bay Area. The airport is named after Norman Y. Mineta, a San Jose native who has served as the city's major, representative in Congress, and most recently Secretary of Commerce under President Bill Clinton and Secretary of Transportation under President George W. Bush. The airport has two terminals and an International Arrivals Facility. American and Southwest are located in Terminal A and all other airlines are located in Terminal C. There are 12 airlines serving the airport offering nonstop flights to over 40 destinations in the U.S., Mexico and Asia. The airport has outgrown its current facilities and will embark on a major airport improvement program in the fall of 2004 to update terminal, roadway, airfield and parking facilities. The terminal component of the program will consolidate the two existing terminals into one large, centralized terminal with two concourses. The new terminal is slated for completion in 2007.
