The Santa Fe Municipal Airport is located nine miles southwest of Santa Fe, a city renowned for its many restaurants and art galleries. Due to the airport's FAA classification, it cannot handle commercial aircraft with more than 30 passenger seats on a regular basis. One regional jet service, Great Lakes Airlines - affiliated with both United Airlines and Frontier Airlines - provides six daily, nonstop flights between Santa Fe and Denver. The airport terminal building was originally constructed in 1957 and has been recently renovated to make it a more comfortable and convenient gateway to Santa Fe.
