Or, you can take the convenient MAX light rail service that connects the airport to downtown Portland in approximately 38 minutes. The light rail station is located outside the southern end of the terminal near concourses A and B and currently costs less than $2. Fifteen major airlines service the airport with Alaska Airlines and its affiliated Horizon Air offering the most flights. You can fly nonstop to over 50 destinations including Northwest's recently added flight to Tokyo, Japan. The airport's modern terminal facility is roughly shaped like an 'H' with ticketing (upper level) and baggage claim (lower level) in the center and five in-line concourses forming the legs. Also in the center is the noteworthy Oregon Market, which has better-than-usual shopping and eating options. There's no sales tax in Oregon so go ahead and treat yourself to a Northwestern trinket.
