Palm Beach International Airport is a medium-sized airport in southeastern Florida that was voted third-best U.S. airport by readers of Conde Nast Traveler Magazine in 2003. Located 2.5 miles west of downtown West Palm Beach and 3.5 miles west of Palm Beach along Interstate 95, it offers easy access to beaches and other area attractions. The airport's terminal was opened in 1988 and has separate levels for arriving and departing passengers, three concourses and a large concession mall that runs the length of the building. Showcasing its South Florida roots, the terminal features coquina walls (a limestone and shells material that was commonly used in Florida's historical buildings), tile floors and a colorful art collection. Over 10 major airlines and several regional jet services operate out of the airport with Delta handling over 30 percent of all passengers. Palm Beach International Airport is a generally hassle-free and pleasant beginning to a South Florida vacation.
