Hilo International Airport1363 Mokuea St, Hilo, HIWeb: Visit this site » Hilo International Airport, known as General Lyman Field prior to 1989, is the airport of choice if you're visiting the island of Hawaii's largest city, Hilo, or the Kilauea Volcano. The airport is two miles east of Hilo, on the Big Island's rainy eastern shore. Three airlines service the small airport - Aloha Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines and Pacific Wings. The passenger terminal complex - the airport also serves as a general aviation airport -- is at the southern edge of the airport. From the airport, you can reach your vacation spot by taxi or by renting a car from one of eight rental car companies. A handful of hotels also run airport shuttles, but there is no public shuttle to downtown Hilo.
