Grand Forks International Airport may be North Dakota's busiest commercial airport, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's a big and bustling place. The airport is served Northwest Airlines and Mesaba Airlines, a Northwest Airlink affiliate, offering daily, nonstop flights to Northwest's hub in Minneapolis/St. Paul from which passengers can connects to hundreds of destinations worldwide. It is located approximately six miles from downtown Grand Forks in the Northern Red River Valley region of eastern North Dakota. The airport was opened in 1987 making it a relatively new and modern facility.
