The Charleston International Airport is a gateway to Charleston, S.C., a city that is rich with the history and architecture of the antebellum South. The airport is located in the North Charleston adjacent to Charleston Air Force Base and uses the airfield facilities jointly with the Air Force. The passenger terminal complex was dedicated in 1985 and features three levels and two concourses with ten gates. Continental, Delta, Independence Air, Northwest, US Airways and United Express service the airport offering over 100 daily flights. The airport is constructing a new parking garage and advises passengers to arrive at the airport 20 minutes earlier because the former short-term parking lot is closed. The garage is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2005.
