Boise Airport serves Idaho's capital in the southwestern corner of the state. Several years ago increasing passenger volumes outgrew the airport's original capacity. In response, the airport initiated a long-term expansion plan with the first phase opening to the public in June 2003 and the second phase scheduled for completion in late 2004. The airport is served by 10 major airlines including two low cost options, Frontier and Southwest. United, which traces its beginnings to Boise, is the only airline to have served Boise continuously since 1933. The airport offers over 20 nonstop flights to cities primarily in the Western and Midwestern regions of the U.S.
