Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport5000 W Intl Airport Rd, Anchorage, AKWeb: Visit this site » Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, renamed in 2000 in honor of Alaska's senior U.S. Senator, is the gateway to Alaska's largest city and the frontier that lies beyond it. It's also an important transpacific crossroads for both commercial and cargo flights. The South Terminal hosts 17 airlines providing domestic flights including several flights to Hawaii to escape the cold Alaskan winters. The North Terminal houses four international airlines including China Airlines and Korean Air. Despite receiving an average of 60 inches of snow a year, the airport manages to stay open when others close thanks to an award-winning snow removal team. To better accommodate growing numbers of passenger and cargo flights, the airport has undertaken a $230 million expansion project that will replace the dated concourse C. The project is scheduled for completion in 2005.
