The Alexandria International Airport is located in the England Industrial Airpark near the town of Alexandria, La. Alexandria, the parish seat of Rapides Parish, is situated on the banks of the Red River near the exact geographic center of the state. The multi-use airpark is built on the site of the former England Air Force Base, which closed in 1992. Three regional jet services operate at the small airport: Atlantic Southeast Airlines operating as Delta Connection, Continental Express and Northwest Airlink. These airlines offer daily, non-stop flights to Atlanta, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Houston and Memphis from which passengers can connect to hundreds of domestic and international destinations.
