Buffalo Niagara International Airport is the gateway to Buffalo and the awe-inspiring Niagara Falls. Befitting a popular tourist destination, the airport offers nonstop service to 18 cities and is served by 10 airlines with US Airways offering the most flights. The new airport terminal, opened in 1997, looks like it could take flight itself when viewed from the air. Its soaring design was inspired by the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright and the region's commitment to flight. Within the main Gateway concourse, a unique 13,000 square feet of multicolored terrazzo tiles depict the history of the region from a geological and sociological perspective. For daredevils wishing to take a different sort of flight over the edge of the falls, please note that barrels do not fit into most overhead compartments.
