Orchid House and Gardens

The walk up to this greenhouse provides a breathtaking view of the mountains and the lake. Rare trees and unique statues ornament the grounds outside. The inside hothouse is filled with orchids and other tropical flowers. Hanging ferns and potted palms provide a backdrop for hundreds of yellow, purple, pink and white blooms. Intoxicated by the sweet scent and the vivid colors, one is tempted to go to sleep just like Dorothy did in the poppy field. This visit is not recommended unless you're covered in bug spray, however. The mosquitoes are invisible but voracious. Come prepared and you will delight in the flowers and fragrance of the islands. Free admission.
