A unique slice of the Antarctic situated in Hobart, this attraction offers visitors the opportunity to undertake a botanical exploration of the polar regions. Featuring the unique flora of Macquarie Island, the Plant House has chiller fans and a misting unit to recreate the cold, wet and windy conditions of the subantarctic. With these conditions and a panoramic mural, visitors can really appreciate the experience of being on Macquarie Island, 1500 kilometres south-east of Tasmania. Among the plants included in the house is the Macquarie Island Cabbage, food source of the desperate! Admission: Free.
