Lang Pagoda100 Duong Chua Lang, About 300 meters from Duong Lang, Hanoi, VietnamBuilt in the Ly Than Tong Dynasty (1128-1138), Lang Pagoda offers the visitor a chance to escape the hectic streets and sample the atmosphere of rural Vietnam. It is set among the market gardens of the suburbs, next to a cemetery of opulent mausoleums. An ancient concrete and wooden gateway is flanked by stone elephants, while a more recent octagonal pavilion occupies a central courtyard. Large trees provide a shaded, peaceful setting where local students read and paint.
