Salah Talay MosqueFacing Bab Zuwaila, Islamic Cairo District, Cairo, EgyptA passerby may not realise, at a first glance, that this structure is actually a mosque. The facade consists of several beautiful arches with columns topped by elegant Corinthian capitals. The mosque is the last building of the Fatimid period in Egypt (1160 AD). It was restored in the 1930s and is currently undergoing restoration. It is directly in front of Bab Zuwaila though you may not be able to enter if the restoration is not yet terminated. Always remove shoes and dress modestly in the mosques of Egypt.
