Frederick Lutheran Church7 Norre Gade, Charlotte Amalie, VITel: 209 372 0200 Built in 1820 in a combination of neo-classical and gothic revival architecture, this historic church retains much of its original character. Gracious steps and an arched door way greet visitors. The church has an elaborate bell tower, lovely stained glass windows and other historical features that date to the days when Denmark owned the Virgin Islands. Since the Lutheran Church was then the Danish state church, the governor often filled in for the minister. Visitors are welcome to tour the church and attend Sunday services. There is no admission charge.

“My wife, Sharon, and I were married in Frederick Lutheran church, April 14, 1978. We were treated so warmly and graciously, it was an experience we will have more than one reason to remember. The pastor at the time, made the effort to have a group of the congregation on hand to be our witnesses. All this for a couple who traveled over four thousand miles for the ceremony. We have been back once since, and felt the same warmth when we entered. I hope we will be able to return again.” Popular Attractions in St. ThomasView all attractions in St. Thomas
