Approached from any direction, Kettering presents a picture postcard view of boats bobbing in the marina, with the surrounding hills covered in houses designed to make the most of what lies before them. Although the township itself is small, this is the departure point for Bruny Island, and the visitors' centre at the end of the pier has plenty of information about the island for those making the 15-minute ferry crossing. Look out for the whimsical tree sculptures dotted throughout the gardens of the Oyster Cove Inn and perhaps enjoy a meal at this pub with a view.
