Day Trip to Nevis

There are several ways to get to Nevis for the day. If you want to spend the entire time discovering the joys of Nevis, take either of the ferries that run daily. Wednesday offers the longest visit as the Caribe Queen departs St. Kitts at 7a and departs Nevis at 6p; you have the entire day to spend touring Nevis. If you have rented a car on St. Kitts for the week, most rental companies offer a complementary car on Nevis for a day. There are also many taxi drivers who offer tours of the island and will take you to see all the historic spots such as the lovely old plantation inns that are scattered throughout the island. Both LIAT and the Nevis Express airlines have daily flights to Nevis. The earliest flight to Nevis is 7:30a and the latest returning flight is at 8p. There are also catamaran trips that leave St. Kitts and will take you snorkelling in a cove and then on the a private beach on Nevis for a barbecue lunch. It is a fun trip, but you don't get to see the most of Nevis that way. Charlestown is the hub of Nevis and offers some good shopping and quaint restaurants. The Botanical Gardens of Nevis consist of eight acres of exotic flowers and plants that include the world famous Orchid Garden. You could actually spend the whole day there amidst the beauty. The beaches of Nevis are not to be missed, make sure you check out Pinneys Beach and have a drink at Sunshine's Bar. Once you take your day trip to Nevis, you may just decide that one day is not enough and choose to spend your next vacation exploring there with a day trip to St. Kitts!
