Fiesta de San Isidro
Pueblos del Estado, Merida, MexicoThe devotion to San Isidro Labrador (Saint Isidro the Farmer) has been deeply rooted in the people of Merida. This is nothing unusual in a state in which agriculture and cattle breeding are so widespread. The feast of San Isidro, celebrated on the 15th of May, is held on successive weekends in different towns, from the end of December to the end of May. The richness of each celebration largely depends on the wealth of the town, although it will always include the solemn mass, the blessing of the animals and products of the fields, music, fireworks and, above all, the Saint's procession.
