The oldest of the Protestant churches, the Lutheran Church is well established in Australia following the arrival of a group of missionaries sent to work with Aboriginal people in 1838. The Victorian synod, which includes Tasmania, was established almost 20 years later. The Eastside Christian School on the eastern shore of the Derwent River is served by St Peter's, which is also home to the small Lutheran community of Hobart. The congregation makes visitors most welcome. Services: 10am Sunday.
