The festivities begin on the eve of the new lunar year with the all-important family reunion dinner, while day one is an open house day when relatives, friends and guests pay reciprocal visits and exchange red packets for the children. Many families also invite lion dance troops to the house to usher in a new year. At Khoo Kongsi, this joyous occasion is celebrated with an open house for the public. Lion dance and other performances are held and are an excellent way to soak in festivities.
