Beginning just a few kilometres south of Innsbruck, the 35km-long Stubai valley leads through some of Austria's most stunning countryside. The valley is surrounded by some 80 glaciers and 40 mountains including the 3507m-high Zuckerhutl. The road winds past the villages of Mieders, Telfes, Neustift and Fulpmes (containing a fascinating ironsmith's museum) to the Stubai Glacier, a year-round ski resort. The village shops offer a selection of tasty, home-made specialities like cold meats, honey and bread. The valley contains several hiking trails, mountain bike routes and the Greifvogelpark, a zoo specialising in birds of prey.
