Ayira Vaisyar Sri Meenakshi Jhn Sundraeswarar Temple49 Jalan Kebun Bunga, Penang, MalaysiaOn the way to the botanical gardens looms a temple that gives new meaning to "majestic". Opened on 9 February 1998 amidst relatively little fanfare from the public, the temple is modelled after the 500-year old Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai, India. The cost? A cool MYR2 million. Fifteen skilled craftsmen from India took three years to complete the temple, which houses 48 deities from Kanchipuram, India, together with deity Meenakshi Sundraeswarer and Thirupathi. The most unique feature to look out for is the Meenakshi Amman and Navakaragam deities made out of green stone.
