Kyuka-mura Shikanoshima Beach

Kyuka-mura (which means rest village) is a semi-resort area used mainly by area residents with cars (you can't really get there any other way). It is located on the northside of Shikanoshima, meaning the ocean side. The waves are much bigger than they are on the Hakata Bay side, which attracts surfers. Some areas are rather calm, though, making it a great place for splashing around in the water with family or friends. In the "village" facilities there are coin-lockers, some restaurants, an outdoor pool (fee charged), showers and parking.
