Buppharam Thai Buddhist Temple

8 Jalan Perak, Penang, Malaysia
Tel: +60 4 261 6663 (Penang Tourist Centre)

Translated roughly to mean the "Flower Temple", the largest temple arch in the state lies here. Skilled craftsmen were brought in from Thailand to upgrade the deteriorating arch. A Thai Buddhist monk, Luang Por Sri Keow, built the temple from scratch in 1942 and his statue lies half covered with gold leaves in front of the prayer room. Worshippers can buy gold leaves at MYR1 each to paste on the statue as a sign of respect. There is chanting of prayers from 7am-8am daily and the temple is open to the public.
