WaagplatzWaagplatz, Salzburg, AustriaLocated between the "Judengasse" and the Mozartplatz is the tiny, but historically very important "Waagplatz". Translated the name means "Scale Square", due to a large scale that was situated there for weighing the peddlers goods. The "Waagplatz" was home to many important elements of urban life, such as the oldest market, a courthouse, a council-owned warehouse and the oldest town-hall. And as if that wasn't enough one can also find one of the oldest churches in a small passage leading away from the square, the Michaelskirche, church of Saint Michael. Interested in history? Don't miss this square then. This is where you can smell the history of Salzburg!!!
