ProcidaVia Salita Castello, Naples, ItalyProcida is less famous than the renowned Capri and Ischia, but it can rival them with its charm and natural splendour. Its cliffs overhanging the sea, the wide beaches and quiet bays, the citrus groves and the vineyards, have turned it into a destination for faithful visitors. The small volcanic island's picturesque town extends along a tongue of land stretched out in the sea between Marina Grande, the island's main port, and Marina Corricella. A scenic road leads to Marina di Chiaiolella, an enchanting inlet. At the very end of this inlet, on the Palombara point, you will come across the ruins of the ancient church of Santa Margherita Vecchia. The tiny island of Vivara which faces it, whose scythe shaped form is all that remains of an ancient crater, is destined to become a natural park. The island's Aragonese castle was turned into a prison in 1830, and now the island's most interesting monument is the Chiesa di San Michele.

“I visited Procida over 30 years ago and I thought it was absolutely beautiful. For a young woman, I thought I had died and went to heaven! The views were breathtaking. I visited my Mother's family and although it's a small island, it was quite populated. The folks were so very friendly and accommodating. I was impressed with the marina and the winding roads that led to the hilltops where the wealthy resided. I definitely would recommend Procida for an overnight stay or week long stay. The islands of Capri and Ischia were also so very magnificent to me. I yearn to return with my husband someday. ” 0 of 2 people found this review helpful.Popular Attractions in NaplesView all attractions in Naples
