Sorrento is one of the most famous and popular tourist resorts in the area and its fame has spread around the world. It is located in an enchanting position on a natural terrace overlooking the sea. The town's streets are full of fashionable shops and characteristic artisans' shops selling local produce. The wonderful climate attracted Roman noblemen back in ancient times. They came here and built villas. The most suggestive remains are those of the Villa di Pollio Felice. Today Sorrento is a rich and elegant tourist resort with a first class selection of hotels able to cater for all sorts of needs.
