Grand Theatre

Plac Teatralny, Warsaw, Poland

This huge neo-classical theatre is the site for most major artistic events in Warsaw and is thought to be the largest in Europe. It was erected in 1825-33 by Antoni Corazzi and large Doric colonnades dominate the front facade. The building was burned during WWII and although the exterior was reconstructed, the interior was redesigned to suit modern needs. It boasts an opera auditorium that can accommodate 1,900 spectators and two other smaller stages.
