Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

Plac Pilsudskiego, Warsaw, Poland

The tomb is constructed from the only surviving fragment of the Saxon Palace, which was razed during the Second World War. It resembles a small temple with the everlasting flame burning within. Every Sunday at noon, the Changing of the Guard ceremony takes place here. To the west of the Tomb is the Saxon Garden - a beautiful, peaceful garden which contrasts strongly with the huge ugly concrete square of Pilsudskiego to the east.
