Located approximately 60 miles east of Portland via U.S. Highway 26, this Cascade peak is the highest in Oregon and one of the most-climbed alpine peaks in the United States. According to geologists, this massive volcano last erupted more than 15,000 years ago. It is still classified as active. Many magnificent hiking trails take you along the flanks of this gentle giant, where you can get a closer view.
