Seminario del Monte Corban

San Román, Santander, Spain
Tel: +34 942 332600

Established in 1407 by the order of Saint Jerome, the building is most noteable for its two cloisters. The first, the so-called Patio Pequeno (Small Courtyard) is a lovely example of Renaissance architecture, with two stories of half-rounded arches, six on each side. The larger cloister is four stories high and was built in the 18th century in baroque style. The church itself has a single nave and a tracework vaulted ceiling. The old Monte Corban monastery is now a seminary, located about 4km out of the city centre. Mass is conducted at 9a on Sunday.
