Alta ValmarecchiaComunità Montana Alta Valmarecchia, Piazzale I Maggio, 21/22, Rimini, ItalyTel: +39 0541920442 Where Valmarecchia borders on the Marche, you will find small hilltop villages set in woods and clearings in which the truffle, local cheese and Romagna wines are traditional flavours of the cuisine. Novafeltria, which bore the name Mercatino Marecchia until 1941, has interesting buildings like the 18th century Town Hall, the Romanesque church of Santa Martina and the church of San Pietro in Culto. Pennabilli came into being in 1350 when the castles of Penna and Billi were merged. The village of Penna was founded in the Fifth century and is considered the first castle to have belonged to the Malatesta family. Sant'Agata Feltria is dominated by the massive 10th century Fregoso fort; the village still conserves the small Teatro Mariani, a real jewel with its boxes made entirely from wood. The village name is linked to the "Festival of the Chestnut and Truffle" which is held every Sunday in October.
