About an hour and a quarter's drive from Brisbane is the popular water playground of Somerset Dam. The Dam was built as the main water supply for the Brisbane and Ipswich region and covers over 133,500 hectares. The reservoir can hold double the amount of water of Sydney Harbour. Tourists and locals flock to Somerset on weekends to enjoy fishing, water-skiing, canoeing, swimming and the picturesque views. Camping is also very popular, making Somerset an ideal family destination.
