Puerta del Cambron

San Juan de los Reyes, s/n, Toledo, Spain

This ancient gateway to the city is near the San Juan de los Reyes Monastery at the edge of the aljama, or old Jewish Quarter. Its name comes from the spiny cambron bush which grew in the vicinity. The present gate dates from the reconstruction carried out in the second half of the sixteenth century. The two towers of the gateway are joined by a central turreted courtyard.
