Pasaje de ChinitasPlaza de la Constitución, s/n, Malaga, SpainThis is not a neighbourhood, nor a street, but tradition and history have turned this spot into one of the most typical places in town. It owes its name to its unique personality and the existence of the now-disappeared Cafe de Chinitas. The latter was a cafe, a theatre, and a bastion of Flamenco singing. Today it no longer exists as such, but the commemorative plaque still reminds us of its importance. There used to be a fountain in the middle, which was later substituted by a clay statue of a gipsy, but both of these have also disappeared. What still exists, however, is its charm. Federico Garcia Lorca dedicated a verse to a confrontation that took place inside this establishment: "In the Cafe de Chinitas, Paquiro told his brother: I'm more courageous than you, more bullfighter and more gipsy."
