Jamek MosqueJalan Tun Perak, Kuala Lumpur, MalaysiaTel: +60 3 2693 6661 (Kuala Lumpur Tourist Information Centre) Officially opened on the 23rd of December 1909, by the then-Sultan of Selangor, this is the city's oldest surviving mosque. Located at the tip of Sungai Kelang and Sungai Gombak, Jamek Mosque, built by the notable British architect, A B Hubback, was designed after the Moghul mosque in North India. Cupolas and minarets top the brick walls and arched colonnades. Three domes surmount the prayer hall, the central dome is 21.3 metres high and is flanked by two lower domes. The mosque served as Kuala Lumpur's principal mosque until the opening of the National Mosque in 1965.
