The Biblioteca Nacional is located in the Southeastern corner of Plaza del Panteon, a modern building first opened to the public at the beginning of the 1990s. When visiting you should take a few minutes reading the directory, so you can learn about the different services and facilities, as well as their location. Apart from their extensive book collections, the library has information services at your disposal, publications, reproduction facilities, audiovisuals, old documents and maps. The library also organizes talks. If you are after detailed historical information about Venezuela or its capital, then you can go to the newspaper library or "hemeroteca," where you will be able to consult papers from the 20th century. Another place to go is the microfilm room, which houses a considerable collection of documents.
