This ski area is ideal for beginners and families, but it is really famous for its unbelievably long ski season. Running from October through August, the ski slopes here are open 351 days out of the year. During the summer, Olympic hopefuls train on the mountain's still snow-packed slopes. You will also find three double-chair lifts, one triple and two high-speed quads. Half of the runs are intermediate and another third of them are designated for beginners. There is a 3,600-foot vertical drop, so even advanced skiers and snowboarders will enjoy the terrain. Lift tickets usually run $30 for adults full-day and $17 for half-day, but the prices vary by season.

When you've had enough of the slopes, which get an average of 500-600 inches of snow per year, Timberline Lodge is a cozy place to wait for the rest of your crew. Warm your hands by the fire and look at the displays in the large, open lobby.
