Monumento a Cristobal ColonAvenida Doctor Fleming, s/n, Ibiza, SpainIn 1992 the San Antonio town council erected a monument on the roundabout on the way into the town to honour the sailor and discoverer of America, Christopher Columbus. The sculpture has become very popular, and was rapidly given the nick-name "Columbus' egg" since it is an egg-like structure with a hole in the middle that contains a metal replica of one of the caravels that was used to travel to the new continent. The work was created by the sculptor, Antoni Hormigo, the potter Julio Bauza, and the engineer, Luis Ojeda.
