Murallas de IbizaCasco Histórico, Ibiza, SpainTel: +34 971 301900 Ibiza's city walls, complete with bastions, are the only example of their kind to remain intact anywhere in the world, and they have been given the category of a World Heritage site by Unesco. There are eight bastions in total, and the original plans (which only included six) were done by the Italian engineer Gianbattista Calvi. These plans were then expanded upon by Giacomo Paleazzo "el Fratin", in 1575. The walls were commissioned by the then prince regent, Felipe II. There are several main gates, the most important one being the Portal de Mar (or "Sea Gate" also known as the Portal de Taules), which is crowned by the coat of arms of Felipe II and flanked on both sides by replicas of two Roman statues (the originals are in the Archaeology Museum). From the walls you can enjoy views of the city and the harbour, as well as the neighbouring island of Formentera.
