Iglesia de San AntonioPlaza de la Iglesia, s/n, Ibiza, SpainTel: +34 971 312 773 The Archbishop of Tarragona, who was responsible for religious matters on Ibiza for a long time after the Catalan Conquest of 1235, gave permission in the 14th Century for a chapel to be built on this site in what is now the centre of San Antonio. The bell tower was equipped with canons until the 19th Century. It still conserves some features from the days when it was used as a fortress, for example the square tower that forms one of the corners at the back. Inside there are three interesting altarpiece paintings and several statues of saints from the 18th Century, such as San Antonio. There are no specific visiting times, but you can visit the church during mass, which is held from M-Sa at 7p, and on Su at 10a, 11a and 7p.
